Without good and dedicated people, it is very difficult to make a breakthrough

This is a share of Mr. Nguyen Kim Chinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tan Binh Shipping Company facing the great difficulties facing the shipping industry.

- As a person who has been involved in the international shipping business for many years, what are your thoughts on the current shipping business situation?

Shipping is always a "sensitive" industry in the world political and economic situation, especially the fluctuation of fuel prices and the balance of import and export goods at home and abroad.

Because of this, in the recent global economic crisis, many shipping companies lost money and many units went bankrupt.

We ourselves have to constantly change our business strategy, be alert, flexible in all situations and difficult to maintain stability to be ready to make a breakthrough when the economy flourishes than.

- What are your comments on the near future of the shipping industry?

In my opinion, the difficulty of the shipping industry will last until the end of 2013. In 2014, the new sea shipping can recover, but it will certainly not have many breakthroughs. In the long term, I personally still believe that shipping is still a potential field and will break out quickly, bringing in more foreign currencies for the country. However, in order to prevail in competition and find a long-term firm foothold, what needs to be done now for Vietnamese shipping is to promote rejuvenation and a rational structure of the fleet. In which, investment should be focused on general cargo ships, container ships, oil tankers ... with modern technology, large tonnage. Along with that, shipping companies should invest more in human resource development in both quantity and quality. At the same time, to continuously be flexible, constantly improve the competitiveness, exploit the source of export goods, especially the source of domestic exports to build a brand in the regional and international transportation markets.

- There are many things to do to increase competitiveness for domestic shipping businesses. However, in your opinion, which is the most essential thing?

I think that the first and foremost, most fundamental thing is still the training and development of marine human resources, including the shipping sector. Without talented and dedicated people, it is very difficult to have a breakthrough. The training of human resources for the shipping sector must attach importance to both theory and practice, according to international standards. In my opinion, in the coming time, it is necessary to further strengthen the link between schools and businesses, thereby creating conditions for learners to have the best theoretical knowledge and at the same time have high skills and ability to practice. and good foreign language to meet international maritime needs.

It is a fact that today, many officers and crew members go on a ship to take advantage of the economy for a few years to move immediately ashore. They are afraid of going to sea to face many risks, hard work, afraid of being away from their families ... Without a person who is enthusiastic about the profession, shipping is very difficult to compete with foreign shipping lines.
